Royals Mid Season Recap

by Dickie Dunn

The Langton Royals Jr Hockey Club has had an incredible start to their inaugural season. With 25 players who went from barely knowing each other in September and October to 21 players that have become a family and are turning some heads in the CPJHL. The Royals are sitting in 5th place in the CPJHL and 2nd in the west division. Being just 1 point out of first with 1 game in hand is nothing less then amazing for this first year club. “ I’m impressed, not satisfied but impressed” said Head Coach Jason Do Paco. “We are doing well. Each player has taken leaps and bounds in their development and it shows in our games and our record. I remember back in September when Mark and I first had everyone come in we would not have put us in this position then. These boys have earned everything they have gotten and I’m very proud of them.” Do Paco went on to say “We have been working them hard but they always seem to want more and give more. Mark Jones has done an awesome job with our goalies and d men and our goals against shows this. Our team gives that total team effort each night which makes us hard to beat and always hard to play against. I’m enjoying the year it’s been awesome!”

The Langton Royals also saw 7 players selected to the WSHL Showcase in Las Vegas combining with players from the rest of the CPJHL. The Royal players were definitely amongst the stand outs. Players selected were Captain Jack Dorey, Justyn Clarke, Felix Mailhot, Olivier Beaulieu, Juliusz Kowalski and Carson Favel. Toby Beliveau, also selected, was unable to make the trip but was one of the first players selected for this team. Head Coach Jason Do Paco was also selected as the Head Coach for the tournament. The Royal players all performed well at the showcase and made the the organization and CPJHL proud.

The Royals are sitting with a 12-4-1 record on the season and have 4 players averaging above two points per game and a couple getting pretty close. It’s exciting, it’s fast, it’s hard hitting and from personal experience I can tell you they never quit and are extremely hard working. It’s worth the $10 admission. Kids under 13 get in free and get a free Boston pizza kids meal provided by Boston Pizza Tillsonburg. The music and the atmosphere are second to none - it’s junior hockey the way it’s suppose to be!

Jason Do Paco finishes to say “I would like to thank all the sponsors, fans, players, staff and my parents Joe and Almerinda for making this possible for these boys. I know they love the game just as much as I do and really put the best they can out there for the players.”

The Royals will be back in action January 5th 2020 when they ring in the new year playing their rivals and first place in the division, Seaforth Generals. The Royals sit one point back of the Generals with one game in hand. For more details on game times and schedules visit
